Ubisoft's Under-the-Radar NFT Game

As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, Ubisoft launched Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. This top-down, multiplayer arcade shooter necessitates cryptocurrency for gameplay.

According to Eden Online, the game expands upon the universe of "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," a Netflix series. The game and show incorporate popular Ubisoft franchises, including Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.

Limited to 10,000 players, access is granted via a Citizen ID Card NFT. This NFT tracks player achievements and rankings, evolving based on in-game performance.

Acquiring Citizenship

To obtain a Citizen ID Card, players need a crypto wallet and must purchase an NFT Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft's designated claim page for $25.63. Cardholders can relinquish their citizenship and resell their IDs, potentially increasing their value based on in-game success.

Ubisoft's Magic Eden page indicates a full launch in Q1 2025, with early access for those who secured IDs early.

A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3 DLC

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Inspiration

The Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, is an animated adaptation of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992, the US has transformed into Eden, a megacorporation-controlled technocracy.

The series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier who defects, engages in heists, and is eventually recaptured, forced to work against his former partner.

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's storyline, it shares the same universe. Players assume the role of Eden citizens, influencing the narrative through mission completion, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement.
