Ubisoft Hypes Assassin

It's been a while since we last talked about Ubisoft, hasn't it? Well, next Thursday, the company is set to release Assassin's Creed Shadows, and the success of this game could very well determine the future of the entire corporation. The anticipation is high, and the stakes are even higher.

Today, Ubisoft’s official channel released a new video dedicated to the game. You might think this is the launch trailer, but the title labels it as a TV commercial, which raises some questions. The video itself isn’t bad—it’s smooth, cinematic, and visually impressive. However, the concern is that Ubisoft seems to be pushing the game more through traditional media. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that approach, but why is a TV ad being uploaded to Ubisoft’s YouTube channel? This might seem like nitpicking, but this strategy doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the upcoming release.

Setting speculation aside, the video does an excellent job of showcasing the differences in gameplay and fighting styles between the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is stunning, but you can’t judge an entire game based on a one-minute cinematic. We'll have to wait until the release to get the full picture.
