"Tribe Nine Canceled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

Author:Kristen Update:May 18,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was genuinely shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers for Tribe Nine will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now officially cancelled and an End of Service (EOS) announcement made.

This marks a disappointing end for Tribe Nine, which just a couple of months ago celebrated surpassing ten million downloads. The game, inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, offered fans a mix of regular ARPG gameplay alongside the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles characteristic of the series.

The abrupt cancellation of Tribe Nine adds to a troubling trend over the last few years, where numerous games have been discontinued within a year of their release. For many fans, this recurring scenario can make it daunting to invest time and emotion into new releases, always shadowed by the looming threat of an EOS.

Considering that Rui Komatsuzaki's distinctive art style has been well-received in Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms, the decision to cancel Tribe Nine so soon after its launch raises questions about developer Akatsuki Games' strategy. The swift closure may impact the studio's reputation.

With another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to attract fans of the existing series. However, casual players might be hesitant to engage, given Akatsuki's recent track record. For fans of Tribe Nine, this news certainly dampens the mood.

On a brighter note, there's still a plethora of fantastic games to explore. Why not check out our latest feature on the top five new mobile games to try this week for some of our top recommendations?

In response to the EOS, Akatsuki Games has announced that they will refund all paid Enigma Entities, and in-game purchases will be halted as the servers approach their closure date.
