Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Footage Leaks After Game’s Cancellation

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 31,2025

Leaked gameplay footage of the canceled Transformers: Reactivate has re-emerged online. Originally announced in 2022 by Splash Damage in partnership with Hasbro, the co-op game pitted Autobots and Decepticons against an alien threat, "the Legion." While little official gameplay was shown, leaks, including action figures, hinted at its development. Splash Damage ultimately canceled the project, shifting focus to other ventures, potentially resulting in layoffs.

Recently resurfaced footage, from a 2020 build, showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and utilizing various weapons. The gameplay bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but features the Legion as antagonists instead of Decepticons.

Despite some missing textures, the leaked footage appears polished, showcasing environmental destruction. An unfinished, silent cutscene depicts Bumblebee emerging from a portal near the ruins of New York City, contacting an ally named Devin regarding the Legion's attacks. Numerous other leaks from 2020, predating the official announcement and cancellation, further illustrate the game's development. While unplayable, the leaks offer a glimpse into Splash Damage's ambitious, yet ultimately unsuccessful, Transformers project.
