• Connect trios of toys and advance through an exciting toybox adventure
• Discover nostalgic toys from Uno, Masters of the Universe, Barbie, and more

If you're a millennial (like myself) or from an earlier generation, you likely remember the Mattel name appearing on countless toys, from board games to action figures. While the company has maintained a strong mobile presence, their newest venture might be their most ambitious yet with Mattel Match: Toybox Unlocked coming to mobile devices!

As the name suggests, Mattel Match appears to be a match-three puzzle game where players combine toy pieces. What we can confirm is that it will showcase numerous beloved Mattel brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Uno, Masters of the Universe, and several others.

While some fans might have preferred an action-adventure style game, Toybox Unlocked still sounds genuinely entertaining. The game promises a puzzle-driven adventure where players gradually unlock new items designed to evoke nostalgic memories for those who grew up with these classic toys. We all understand the powerful appeal of nostalgia.

Developed in partnership with Uken Games, Mattel Match: Toybox Unlocked will begin soft launch in the Philippines and Canada, with broader regional releases throughout 2025 and a global launch by year's end.

While some Mattel brands might seem traditional compared to contemporary gaming giants, the company still boasts major franchises like the ever-popular Barbie. Although the game will likely offer numerous features, especially coming from an experienced developer like Uken, relying heavily on nostalgia might not attract players unfamiliar with Mattel's legacy.

The puzzle genre presents particularly fierce competition. For perspective, check our curated list of the 25 best puzzle games available on iOS and Android to see the exceptional quality that puzzle enthusiasts can enjoy on mobile platforms today!
