In *Avowed*, upgrading your weapons is crucial for surviving the escalating challenges you'll face. Initially, you'll encounter mostly Common, or Level I, weapons and enemies. As you progress, these will scale to Level II, necessitating the acquisition of Fine, or Level II, gear to keep up with the increasing difficulty. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain Tier II/Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.
In *Avowed*, gear effectiveness is determined by two metrics: Quality and Level. Quality is indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman numeral. Common gear is marked with a green color and a Roman numeral I, while Fine gear is blue and marked with II. Between these levels, there are three incremental upgrades, ranging from +1 to +3.
To upgrade your gear from Common (I) to Fine (II), you'll need to visit a Party Camp. Each Party Camp features a workbench where you can enhance your weapons and armor. To reach Fine (II), you must first complete the +1, +2, and +3 upgrades. Each upgrade level requires specific materials, which vary based on the type of gear. Once you've achieved the +3 upgrade, you can then elevate your gear to Fine (II), which necessitates Adra. This rare, valuable crystal can be obtained by completing Quests, purchasing from Merchants, or by dismantling Unique weapons and armor.
While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Alternatively, you can find Fine (II) weapons and armor in the Living Lands, particularly in Dawnshore, albeit rarely. These items can drop from Level II enemies, especially from Bounties. However, using Common gear against Level II enemies will result in reduced damage output and lower resistance, so it's wise to carry ample health potions.
You can also purchase Fine (II) gear from Merchants in Paradis. Access to Paradis becomes available after defeating the Dreamscourge-infested bear boss in Dawnshore early in the Main Quest. In Paradis, near the Bounty Board, a pair of sister Merchants sell valuable Fine gear. Merlylin specializes in magical items like grimoires and wands, while her blacksmith sister offers more traditional weapons and armor (as shown in the image above) at the adjacent stall.
With these strategies, you'll be well-equipped to obtain Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*, enhancing your gameplay experience as you tackle the game's challenges.
