Temuera Morrison Expresses Disappointment Over Boba Fett's Absence Since The Book of Boba Fett

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 24,2025

What’s next for Boba Fett? The iconic Star Wars character last appeared in his Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett, which concluded in February 2022. The show sparked mixed reactions, with some fans believing it softened the legendary bounty hunter’s edge. Is this the end for Boba Fett?

Three years on, prospects for The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 remain dim. Lucasfilm has not confirmed a continuation, and the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film may offer the best hope for Boba Fett’s live-action return. As for The Mandalorian Season 4, Lucasfilm remains silent, though a cameo from Boba Fett could be possible.

The future of Boba Fett and actor Temuera Morrison remains unclear. Recent statements from Morrison himself suggest little has changed.

In a Collider interview promoting his new film, Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), the 64-year-old New Zealander expressed sadness over not reprising Boba Fett since the series ended.

“What happened to The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? I see they’re working on Ahsoka Season 2. Where’s my Season 2?”

According to Collider, Morrison pitched Lucasfilm on including Boba Fett in Ahsoka Season 2, jokingly asking to play Rex without a helmet, noting he portrays all clones derived from the character.

Morrison recently met Star Wars creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, reminding them of Boba Fett’s existence. Their vague response—“Well, well,” with little elaboration—left him hopeful but uncertain.

Morrison likened himself to “a jar of peaches preserved on grandma’s shelf,” suggesting he’s being saved for a future, perhaps more impactful, return.

“That’s how I see it,” he added. “I’m preserved, waiting on the shelf, ready to return and shine.”

Morrison might be hinting at a comeback, but Lucasfilm’s secrecy is well-known—Rosario Dawson, for instance, was unaware of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker return in The Mandalorian until filming. Still, it seems no concrete plans exist for Boba Fett’s return.

Last year, at Fan Expo Chicago’s From Clone Troopers to Bounty Hunters panel, Morrison suggested The Book of Boba Fett’s mixed reception may have stalled the character’s return in The Mandalorian & Grogu film or a second season. Disney, he noted, hasn’t approached him for either.

The series, which chronicled Boba Fett’s escape from the Sarlacc Pit and doubled as a partial season of The Mandalorian, drew heavy criticism. “The show’s reception likely influenced the character’s future,” Morrison remarked in August 2024. Whether anything has shifted since remains uncertain.

Morrison first portrayed Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, later returning as Jango’s son and clone, Boba Fett. He’s vocal about wanting to return, hoping for a significant role in The Mandalorian, especially after The Mandalorian featured prominently in his show.
