Supercell Hires for Film and TV: Clash of Clans Movie in the Works?

Author:Kristen Update:May 12,2025

Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be making its way to the big screen? It's more likely than you might think. The Finnish mobile developer has begun the search for a senior film and TV development executive, hinting at a possible move into the world of movies, much like Rovio did with Angry Birds back in 2016.

While the idea of Supercell venturing into film isn't far-fetched, it's important to note that the job description, as highlighted by our sister site PocketGamer.biz, focuses on building a strategy for live-action and animated films, as well as theatrical and streaming distribution. This suggests a more strategic, long-term approach rather than an immediate dive into production. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Supercell is already sketching out preliminary plans should they decide to fully commit to film and/or animation.

Clash for the agesClash for the agesSupercell has been pushing boundaries with their portfolio, notably by embracing crossovers and collaborations, such as with the WWE. This trend suggests that a move into film could be a natural next step for the developer.

It's worth remembering that the highly successful Angry Birds movie was released seven years after the game's debut. Despite the time that has passed since Clash of Clans was first released, it continues to have a robust audience. Moreover, Supercell has newer IPs like Mo.co that could be tailored for a younger demographic in a film adaptation.

We'll have to keep an eye on how this unfolds. In the meantime, if you're looking for something to pass the time, why not check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
