"Stellar Blade Sequel Confirmed by Developer"

Author:Kristen Update:May 26,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind the critically acclaimed action game Stellar Blade, has officially announced that a full sequel is in the works. Launched in April 2024 under the PlayStation banner, Stellar Blade received positive feedback from players, who praised its gameplay for blending elements reminiscent of both NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In a recent financial results presentation, Shift Up outlined its future plans, confirming the development of a Stellar Blade sequel as part of its expansion strategy. The sequel is expected to be released before 2027, aligning with other upcoming projects from the Korean company.

Before fans can dive into the sequel, Stellar Blade is set to expand its platform presence with a PC version scheduled for release on June 11, 2025. This move aims to bring the game to a broader audience, enhancing accessibility and potentially addressing the recent PC region lock issues that Shift Up has been discussing with Sony.

In addition to the Stellar Blade sequel, Shift Up is also working on Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that remains shrouded in mystery but is slated for release within the same development period.

IGN's review of Stellar Blade highlighted the game's strengths and weaknesses. While the narrative and character development were found lacking, and some RPG elements, such as sidequests, were criticized for being uninspired, the game's combat system, inspired by Sekiro, was lauded for its solid mechanics. The game also received praise for its engaging exploration elements, which encourage players to uncover hidden treasures and face formidable enemies.
