Stellar Blade's Festive Holiday Update: A Cozy Christmas in Xion

Stellar Blade is decking the halls with its holiday-themed update, launching December 17th. This update brings festive cheer to Xion with new costumes, decorations, and a mini-game. Let's dive into the details.

Stellar Blade Holiday Update

New Holiday Outfits and Customization:

Eve and other characters sport brand-new Christmas attire. The lineup includes:

  • Santa Dress (Eve)
  • Rudolph Pack (Drone)
  • I’m No Santa (Adam)

Eve's holiday look can be further personalized with a Santa Girl hairstyle and accessories like Snow Crystal Glasses, Wreath Earrings, and Sleigh Ear Cuffs.

Festive Xion and a Mini-Game:

Xion itself transforms into a winter wonderland, adorned with warm lights and festive decorations. The Last Gulp and Eve's camp also receive the holiday treatment, complete with seasonal BGM ("Dawn (Winter)" and "Take me away"). A new mini-game adds to the festivities, though details on gameplay and rewards remain scarce. It appears to involve targeting a holiday-themed drone.

Control Your Festive Fun:

A new setting allows players to toggle seasonal content on or off, including the Nier:Automata DLC. Located in the Gameplay section of the Settings menu, the "Seasonal Event Content" option offers three choices:

  • Auto: Automatically enables or disables content based on the season.
  • Disable: Deactivates seasonal content regardless of the season.
  • Enable: Activates seasonal content regardless of the season.

Note: Changing this setting requires a game restart from the most recent save.

Mixed Reception:

While the update has been largely well-received, with many fans embracing the "Christmas Eve" moniker for the protagonist, some players have expressed concerns. The frequency of event updates and the need to restart the game to fully experience the seasonal content have drawn criticism, particularly given Stellar Blade's single-player nature and relatively short playtime (around 30 hours).
