Stellar Blade DRM, Region Lock Fixes Before PC Launch

Author:Kristen Update:May 23,2025

Stellar Blade's developer, SHIFT UP, has recently addressed key concerns about the game's upcoming PC release, particularly regarding DRM and region lock issues. These updates are crucial for fans eager to dive into the game on their preferred platform.

SHIFT UP Addressed DRM Concerns

As Stellar Blade gears up for its PC launch, SHIFT UP has tackled fan anxieties about the inclusion of Denuvo, a form of DRM. On May 17, via a Twitter (X) post, the developer stated, "DRM has been hard tuned to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in some cases." DRM, or Digital Rights Management, is a tool used to thwart unauthorized copying and distribution of games, often sparking debates due to its potential impact on game performance.

SHIFT UP shared performance test results comparing the game with and without DRM. The data revealed negligible differences across average, minimum, maximum, 1% low, and 0.1% low framerates. Importantly, the game also supports mods without any restrictions, a feature often hindered by DRM. While fans have praised SHIFT UP's openness, many still hope for a Denuvo-free version to enhance accessibility.

Region Lock Issues

Another pressing concern is the region lock associated with PlayStation, even though Stellar Blade does not require a PlayStation Network (PSN) connection. Over 130 countries worldwide do not support PSN, potentially limiting access to the game. SHIFT UP is actively "discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our BEST to resolve most of it as soon as possible." They assure that both PC and PS5 versions will offer identical content, ensuring no disadvantage for early buyers through future updates.

While fans appreciate SHIFT UP's efforts to address these issues, there remains a desire for a game free from DRM and PSN restrictions. Stellar Blade's PC version is scheduled for release on June 11 on Steam. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking out our article below!
