New Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game to Be Revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 02,2025

Get ready, Star Wars fans! EA is set to unveil an exciting new turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This untitled Star Wars strategy game, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio filled with veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life, and they're now ready to showcase it to the world.

Mark your calendars for April 19, when the first look at the game will be revealed during a live panel. The panel will feature the lead development team from Bit Reactor, alongside representatives from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, as confirmed by the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.

While details about the game remain scarce, including the specific Star Wars era it will be set in and the exact gameplay mechanics, the involvement of former XCOM developers suggests a strategic experience deeply immersed in the Star Wars universe.

In other news, Respawn Entertainment is also busy with the third installment of their Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it won't be making an appearance at this year's Star Wars Celebration. Respawn had been developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to feature a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was unfortunately canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA that resulted in around 670 job losses. Additionally, earlier in March, Respawn quietly canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an undisclosed number of staff members.

At Star Wars Celebration, fans can also look forward to a sneak peek at the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, slated for release in May 2026, and a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
