Star Wars Outlaws Launch Date Set for Nintendo Switch 2

Author:Kristen Update:May 02,2025

Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, though fans will need to wait a bit longer than expected. The game, set to release on the new Nintendo handheld on September 4, will not be available at the console's launch on June 5. This space adventure, set between the events of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," follows the story of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal marked for death by a cartel. Our reviewer awarded it a 7, praising it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration," but noted drawbacks such as "simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."

While Ubisoft didn't share many new details, the confirmation of the release date for Star Wars: Outlaws on the Nintendo Switch 2 allows us to update the Switch 2 Games List. This news comes at a time when American and Canadian gamers are in pre-order limbo due to Nintendo assessing the impact of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration, making any updates on game releases for the Nintendo Switch 2 particularly welcome.

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also teased fans with a glimpse of the upcoming second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled "A Pirate’s Fortune." In this add-on, players will see Kay Vess ally with Hondo Ohnaka to challenge Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. "Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune" is set to launch on May 15, offering fans more interstellar adventures to look forward to.
