Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

Saber Interactive continues to assure fans that all of its previously announced projects remain in active development, despite the prolonged silence surrounding major titles such as the eagerly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits took to social media to emphasize the studio's ongoing commitment to its diverse lineup of games.

"Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."

Willits' reassurance seems particularly aimed at the KOTOR remake, a project that has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The game has undergone multiple transitions, with development seemingly halting and restarting, yet it has not emerged after four years. In April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the KOTOR project was transferred to Saber during its separation from Embracer Group and remains under active development.

"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch said at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."

Willits' statement, which comes nearly a year after Karch's, reaffirms the ongoing efforts on the KOTOR remake. However, fans have yet to see any updates beyond the initial announcement video.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has a robust slate of other games in the pipeline. Titles such as John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, although specific dates have not been disclosed. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. With the addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their lineup, Saber Interactive's portfolio continues to expand.
