Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Playtest

Announced during Sony's February 2025 State of Play, the Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Playtest ran from February 27th to March 3rd, 2025. Unlike last year’s PC-only Closed Alpha, this Open Alpha was made available on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, marking a major step forward in accessibility.

There was no registration required, meaning all players could jump into the action directly. As detailed in the official press release, the playtest introduced exciting new content including fresh maps, updated weaponry, innovative game modes, and even an intense 8v8v8 multiplayer experience—offering a glimpse into the game’s evolving competitive landscape.

Splitgate 2 Closed Alpha Playtest

Splitgate 2’s previous Closed Alpha Playtest concluded on August 25, 2024, having started on August 21st of the same year. Access was granted to select invited players and those who secured Alpha keys via two methods: by clicking the “Request Access” button on the game’s Steam page, or by watching partnered Twitch streamers for at least two hours through the Twitch Drops system.

This initial test was exclusive to PC, but developer 1047 Games confirmed that future Alpha tests scheduled for 2025 will support PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, aligning with broader platform availability plans.

Is Splitgate 2 on Xbox Game Pass?
