Sky: Children of the Light Marks 6th Anniversary with New In-Game Rewards

Sky: Children of the Light is celebrating its sixth anniversary in a truly magical way. To honor six years of connection, creativity, and community, thatgamecompany is hosting The Sky Creator Awards—a live, in-game awards ceremony set to take place entirely within the world of Sky.

When Is the Sky: Children of the Light 6th Anniversary Awards?
The big event, The Sky Creator Awards, will be held on August 15th at 6 p.m. PT. Players can join from the Sky cinema, a massive virtual space designed to host thousands of participants on a single server. This marks the first-ever live in-game awards show in Sky’s history—a one-night-only celebration dedicated to recognizing outstanding user-generated content and the creators who bring the community to life.

The ceremony will feature ten award categories, including the prestigious Sky Community Award and Content of the Year Award. Other categories celebrate diverse forms of expression: Crafts, Livestream, Cosplay, Storytelling, Gameplay, Illustration, Music, and Sky Scapes.

Winners will have the chance to step onto the virtual stage and deliver live speeches to an audience gathered from around the globe. In the days leading up to the event, the cinema will run a 24/7 stream filled with behind-the-scenes content, developer messages, and nostalgic highlights.

The party starts early!
The celebrations begin on July 7th, when Aviary Village transforms into a vibrant, energetic hub for dancing, swimming, and festive parades. This kick-off event launches a month-long series of activities, including a towering climb, mini-games, and trivia challenges.

Additionally, the cinema will host a special retrospective, revisiting six years of memorable events and seasonal journeys since Sky’s 2019 debut. Starting July 21st, players can also experience the first chapter of a four-part animated feature film that dives into the lore of the Sky universe—Sky: The Two Embers – Part 1.
