Silver Surfer Illuminated in Fantastic Four Trailer Amid Galactus' Threat

Author:Kristen Update:May 01,2025

The latest trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps offers an exciting glimpse into the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) world, showcasing the pivotal role of Julia Garner's Silver Surfer. This two-and-a-half-minute clip dives deeper into how Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) have transformed their universe into a radiant utopia. In this setting, Marvel's First Family is not only celebrated as a (growing) team of heroes who save the day but also as role models for people of all ages. However, their abilities are set to be challenged when Garner's Silver Surfer descends from the sky, heralding the arrival of the cosmic threat, Galactus.

PlayToday's trailer is significantly more action-packed compared to previous footage. We see Ben Grimm smashing through pillars and get a fresh perspective on Reed Richards' stretchy powers. These are innovative interpretations of the classic abilities the Fantastic Four have possessed for decades, and fans will get a comprehensive view of their teamwork when the film releases in July.

Julia Garner's portrayal of Silver Surfer steals the spotlight in this trailer. Despite her limited dialogue, warning that this alternate Earth is now "marked for death," her character exudes immense power as she effortlessly counters the Human Torch and navigates through explosions. While the trailer keeps Galactus' full, updated MCU appearance under wraps, it does tease his arrival with a shot of him stomping through the city.
