Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to captivate fans as Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, provides a much-needed update on the game's development. Dive deeper into the latest details and the swirling speculations surrounding this highly anticipated sequel.

This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real

Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin

Hollow Knight enthusiasts can breathe a sigh of relief as Team Cherry's Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, confirmed that Silksong is indeed real and actively in development. Addressing the community's concerns on X (formerly Twitter), Griffin responded to a fan's plea for reassurance about the game's status.

The buzz began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to an image of a cake, sparking a flurry of speculation among fans about potential teasers for Silksong or announcements related to the Nintendo Switch 2. This led to theories about an alternate reality game (ARG) or imminent release news. However, YouTuber fireb0rn contacted Griffin to clarify the situation and learned that Pellen's tweet was simply a playful change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn shared, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."

Despite the cake confusion, Griffin reassured fans that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release," marking the first significant update in over a year and a half.

Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Originally unveiled in February 2019, Silksong was initially planned for release in early 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expanded scope and their desire to enhance the overall experience. They revealed that Silksong would transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and include a new difficulty mode called Silk Soul. Now, nearly two years after the delay, fans finally receive an update, albeit a brief one.

Reactions to the news have been mixed. Some fans expressed gratitude for the update and encouraged Team Cherry to take their time without succumbing to external pressures. Others, however, are growing increasingly impatient after waiting nearly six years, feeling that the information provided is insufficient for such a long-awaited title.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will join Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through a new world to reach the kingdom's peak. Although no specific release window has been announced, stay tuned for further updates and announcements!
