Shin chan: Shiro & Coal Town Debuts on Crunchyroll

Shin chan: Shiro & the Coal Town is now available on Android via the Crunchyroll Game Vault. This charming slice-of-life adventure first launched in Japan on Nintendo Switch in February 2024, followed by a global release on Switch and PC in October 2024. Now, it’s ready for mobile players.

Shin chan: Shiro & Coal Town Offers a Captivating Anime Journey

The story begins as the Nohara family moves to a serene village in Akita Prefecture when Hiroshi takes a job near his hometown. They settle into a traditional Japanese farmhouse, embracing the tranquil rural lifestyle.

Shinnosuke, known as Shin chan, dives into country life alongside his grandfather Ginnosuke. Mornings and evenings are filled with fishing in Akita’s rivers, catching insects in the orchards, and learning farming skills from his grandmother.

One day, the family dog Shiro returns covered in soot and bolts away. Shin chan gives chase, stumbling upon a mysterious train that whisks him to the enigmatic Coal Town.

Coal Town Evokes the Nostalgic Showa Era

Coal Town buzzes with retro energy, lively workers, and fresh activities, contrasting sharply with the peaceful countryside. You’ll encounter a children’s park, a diner, shops, restaurants, and an apartment complex—some interactive, others serving as vibrant scenery.

Here, you meet Yuri, a young inventor who enlists your help to collect materials for her projects aimed at improving life for the townspeople. Trouble arises when her brother Chuck introduces a flawed ‘waste-free’ system that disrupts the community. You’ll team up with Yuri to restore harmony in Coal Town.
