SF 49ers Address

The San Francisco 49ers have terminated their relationship with controversial streamer Dr Disrespect following his admission of sending inappropriate messages to a minor. This is the latest in a series of sponsors abandoning the streamer after details surrounding his 2020 Twitch ban emerged.

Former Twitch employee Cody Conners revealed on June 21st that Dr Disrespect, real name Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, was banned for "sexting a minor" via Twitch's private messaging system. Initially denying wrongdoing, Dr Disrespect later admitted to exchanging inappropriate messages with a minor on June 25th.

49ers Sever Ties With Dr Disrespect

The 49ers, valued at an estimated $6 billion, are the largest sponsor to drop Dr Disrespect in response to the allegations. A team representative stated to Digiday, "We take these developments seriously and will not be working with him going forward." Dr Disrespect had previously collaborated extensively with the 49ers, participating in marketing campaigns and even announcing draft picks. His longstanding fandom of the team hasn't prevented this abrupt end to their partnership.

This situation mirrors Dr Disrespect's 2020 departure from Twitch. Other companies have also distanced themselves, including gaming accessory maker Turtle Beach and Midnight Society, a game development company he co-founded. Several past sponsors, including Mountain Dew, have indicated they have no plans to renew their association.

We take these developments seriously and will not be working with \[Dr Disrespect\] going forward.

Amidst this fallout, Dr Disrespect announced a temporary break from streaming, stating on June 25th his intention to return soon. The future of his career remains uncertain.
