"The Last of Us Season 2: Release Date and Streaming Guide"

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 23,2025

As the curtain falls on HBO's acclaimed series The White Lotus, another powerhouse show, The Last of Us, is set to reclaim the spotlight with its much-anticipated second season. Two years following its debut on Max, the adaptation of the beloved video game, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, is ready to continue its gripping narrative.

The original Last of Us game and the first season of the series both concluded on cliffhangers that have significant ramifications. For those familiar with The Last of Us Part 2, like myself, the anticipation mixed with apprehension is palpable. Simon Cardy from IGN noted in his review of Season 2 that adapting the sequel's expansive and intricate plot into a television format was always going to be challenging. This complexity is why the story will extend into a third season.

Whether you're eagerly awaiting the premiere of Season 2 or still need to catch up on the first season, here's all the information you need.

From IGN’s 10/10 Review of The Last of Us Part 2:

"The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece worthy of its predecessor. Taking strides forward in nearly every way, Ellie steps into the spotlight and carries the sequel in a manner that feels like the culmination of everything that’s made Naughty Dog’s blockbuster storytelling so memorable since the original Uncharted on the PlayStation 3."

Both Last of Us games have been remastered, with the latest edition of The Last of Us Part 2 released on PC last week. Naughty Dog has also announced a "Complete" edition of both games, set for a physical release this summer. To celebrate the series, Sony has launched a special edition DualSense controller.
