"The Last of Us Season 2 Premiere Date Announced"

HBO has officially announced that The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT. Fans can catch the new season not only on HBO but also streaming on Max. The upcoming season is set to run for seven episodes, and to build excitement, HBO has released new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.

Set five years after the gripping events of the first season, Season 2 will continue the journey of Joel and Ellie as they navigate life with Joel’s brother Tommy in their Montana commune. This season will draw from the narrative of The Last of Us Part 2, a storyline familiar to gamers and fans of the series.

Joining the returning stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie are several new cast members. Kaitlyn Dever steps into the role of Abby, with Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle will also star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards. Created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog, the series secured several Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and was nominated for five Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.

Given the success of the first season, HBO is eager to continue the saga. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted that the series may extend to a total of four seasons, suggesting that Season 2 will not cover the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2.
