"Scrubs Reboot Confirmed: Zach Braff Joins Cast"

In television, it's a well-known fact that nothing good can ever stay dead. In a year that has seen new projects from universes as diverse as The Office and Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-enter production, the beloved 2000s hospital sitcom, Scrubs, is set to make a comeback. It's been 24 years since Zach Braff first stepped into the shoes of junior doctor JD at Sacred Heart Hospital, and now, he's agreed to reprise his iconic role in ABC's upcoming Scrubs reboot. This revival promises to blend new and returning faces, reigniting the charm that fans adored.

This concept may ring a bell, as ABC previously attempted a similar approach during Scrubs' ninth season. That season saw Braff and other series regulars passing the torch to a new, younger cast. However, the experiment was not well-received, and the season was cut short after only nine episodes.

Nearly two decades later, ABC is giving it another go. Scrubs' original creator, Bill Lawrence, is steering the ship for this reboot/revival hybrid. With Braff's commitment secured, Entertainment Weekly suggests that other beloved cast members may soon follow suit.

Bill Lawrence has expressed his thoughts on the revival, stating to Deadline, "We've been talking about it a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo. A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it's a calling."

Scrubs originally aired 182 episodes from 2001 to 2010. While there's no word yet on when production for the new episodes will begin, fans are eagerly awaiting more updates.
