To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing specific tasks is crucial, and one of these is saving Sam. Knowing where to find Sam during the game is essential for those aiming for perfection.

Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

As you approach the conclusion of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer's Camp, captured by Brabant. Your opportunity to save him comes during the main quest "Reckoning." Infiltrating the camp requires a strategic approach, either through stealth or direct confrontation.

To move freely within the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain this by either killing a guard and stealing their attire, ensuring to hide the body afterward, or by looting one of the many chests scattered around the camp. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can explore the camp to locate Sam.

Sam is located in the barn on the left side of the camp, beyond the open area with a cooking fire. Access the barn by using the ladder on its side and dropping down inside, where you'll confront Brabant. At this juncture, you face a critical decision: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Opting to spare him contributes to achieving the best ending, though the choice ultimately rests with you.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escape the camp with him. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also present in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, before returning to Sam to facilitate his escape. Sam can wait safely while you complete these tasks, making this sequence more manageable as you'll need to carry him to the horse.

Von Aulitz can be found in the main part of the camp. Wearing the guard's outfit allows you to enter his quarters without challenge. Upon finding him, you'll see that von Aulitz is already dying. He requests a dignified death, which is the most honorable option. Alternatively, you can choose to kill him brutally or leave him to die slowly. Interestingly, leaving him to die actually contributes to the best ending.

Your final steps involve retrieving Sam and securing a horse. Sam remains in the barn where you left him. If questioned by a guard about moving him, simply state that you're handling a body, which will dispel any suspicion. Exit the camp through the gates, turn right, and follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
