Ryan Reynolds' Early Efforts to Revive Deadpool and X-Men on Screen

Author:Kristen Update:May 14,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring together Deadpool and the X-Men. According to THR, Reynolds envisions this as an ensemble movie where Deadpool shares the spotlight with three or four other X-Men characters, who would take center stage and be utilized in "unexpected ways." This project, which is distinct from the X-Men movie being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie, mirrors the development path of Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially started as a low-budget road trip concept before Reynolds pitched it to Marvel.

This isn't the first time we've heard about Reynolds working on an ensemble movie featuring Deadpool, but the latest reports provide additional insight into what kind of adventures the Merc With a Mouth might embark on. While the specific X-Men characters involved remain a mystery, Deadpool has a history of collaborating with various members of the team and their adversaries in previous films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
