New RPG from Square Enix Lands on Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a short absence. The game's temporary delisting, lasting several days, has ended, allowing players to once again purchase and download the title.

This popular Square Enix game, praised for its revival of classic tactical RPG gameplay, draws comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic combat focuses on unit placement and maximizing damage.

Following a brief removal from the eShop, Square Enix confirmed the game's return via a Twitter statement. While no official reason was given for the delisting, speculation points to Square Enix's recent acquisition of the publishing rights from Nintendo.

This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has been temporarily removed from the eShop; Octopath Traveler experienced a similar, albeit longer, delisting last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was much quicker, resolving within four days.

The game's reappearance is welcome news for Nintendo Switch owners who enjoy Square Enix titles. This further highlights the strong ongoing relationship between the two companies, a partnership evident in past releases like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the continued trend of Square Enix releasing console exclusives on Nintendo platforms. This history stretches back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES and continues today with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive) and Dragon Quest XI (initially a Switch exclusive).
