The ESRB website has recently updated the age rating for Resident Evil 6, maintaining its Mature 17+ classification. The significant update is the inclusion of a new platform: the game is now listed for Xbox Series X|S. This development suggests a re-release tailored for current-generation consoles.

Originally launched in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 6 received a remastered version in spring 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While there's no official announcement yet, it's plausible that this new re-release is also in the works for the PlayStation 5, alongside the Xbox Series X|S. Enthusiasts are curious about what enhancements this native version for current-gen consoles might offer over the previous remaster. The only notable change observed so far is in the game's genre description: where earlier versions were categorized as a "third-person shooter," the new listing describes it as a "survival horror" game. Further details are expected to be unveiled in an upcoming full presentation.

Beyond the remaster, excitement is building for the announcement of the ninth installment in the Resident Evil series. According to rumors, the new game is set to occur four years after the events of Resident Evil: Village.
