The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer offers an exciting preview of the game's mechanics, featuring a thrilling battle against a colossal crab boss. Showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, the trailer from developer Ratatan Works highlights the game's unique blend of rhythm-game elements and side-scrolling action. Prepare for online co-op mayhem with up to four players, commanding a massive army of up to 100 characters in epic battles.

Ratatan, helmed by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring the musical talents of original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, has already achieved significant milestones. Its Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, successfully surpassed its console launch stretch goal, securing its release on multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on the game's Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the game's progress, revealing over 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception for the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta, aiming for a refined demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri detailed the closed beta's scope, confirming initial access to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 planned for release during the approximately one-month test period. He also noted that beta code distribution details, along with the precise start date and time, will be announced via Discord and X (formerly Twitter) upon confirmation.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
