The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

$69.99 at Target | $69.00 at Walmart | $69.99 at GameStop

Nintendo Switch owners can experience Hyrule like never before when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches exclusively for Switch 2 on June 5. This special release includes the full original Switch game enhanced with next-gen upgrades, plus exclusive Zelda Notes accessible via the Nintendo Switch app. Preorders are now available at major retailers.

A Premium Priced Upgrade

The package carries Nintendo's standard $59.99 price point for the original Switch game plus a $10 surcharge for the Switch 2 enhancements - totaling $69.99 with no discount offered for existing owners. However, Nintendo is providing alternative upgrade paths.

Flexible Upgrade Options

For players who already own Breath of the Wild:

• Standalone Switch 2 upgrade available for $10
• Free upgrade included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription

This provides some relief amid Nintendo's aggressive pricing strategy for the new console generation.

Enhanced Gameplay Experience

The Switch 2 Edition delivers measurable improvements:

• Higher, more stable frame rates
• Reduced loading times
• Upgraded resolution and textures
• Smoother overall performance

Our original review called Breath of the Wild "a masterclass in open-world design" that reinvented Zelda's 30-year legacy. These technical enhancements let that masterpiece shine brighter than ever.
