The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs, featuring the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, is now available for purchase. Major retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have launched these new listings today. If you're in the market for a high-performance gaming system, now is the perfect time to snag one of these prebuilt PCs, as they won't be available again until major manufacturers like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) release their own models towards the end of the first quarter.
If you're specifically after a standalone GPU, you're in the wrong place. Head over to our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers will have them in stock. Be aware that launch-day GPU stock is likely to sell out within hours or even minutes. Retailers have already flagged potential inventory shortages, and past Nvidia GPU launches have seen bots snapping up large quantities to resell at inflated prices.

Dell just launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. These come in two configurations, both featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at an impressive $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery, though; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.
Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis retains a similar design to the 2024 R16 model but includes aesthetic and cooling redesigns and updated components. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case instead of the front, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel. This design change eliminates the side panel vents, with air intakes now at the bottom and front of the case. Alienware's new approach emphasizes positive airflow, potentially reducing dust accumulation. Internally, the system has been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Some retailers offer the flexibility to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select built-to-order systems. New RTX 50-series GPU configurations are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While these systems provide customization, they tend to be more expensive and less cost-effective.
The major OEM computer retailers, including Dell, HP, and Lenovo, won't release their prebuilt gaming desktops with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later this year. Dell showcased the Alienware Area 51 at CES 2025, expected to launch with Nvidia's new GPUs sometime in the first quarter. HP plans to equip its flagship Omen 45L with the RTX 5090 and 5080, likely in mid or late February. Lenovo hasn't yet announced when it will begin adding these GPUs to its Legion Tower gaming desktops.
The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially unveiled at CES 2025, focusing on enhanced AI features rather than traditional raster performance. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. These GPUs offer a modest performance boost, though their value for PC gamers compared to the RTX 40-series is debated.
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas notes that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with a smaller generational uplift than expected. For traditional gaming, the RTX 5090's performance increase is one of the smallest in recent memory. However, in games supporting DLSS 4, the performance gains are significant, though 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie echoes this sentiment: "If you already own a high-end graphics card from recent years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 may not justify an upgrade due to its minimal performance lead over the RTX 4080. However, DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation enhances gameplay in supported titles. For gamers with older cards seeking a substantial performance boost, the RTX 5080 is a strong choice, especially if you're open to Nvidia's AI enhancements."
