Quick Links Bagon, a formidable Dragon-type Pokémon, awaits discovery in the vast world of *Pokémon Violet*. Its evolution, Salamence, is a powerful Dragon/Flying-type pseudo-legendary Pokémon boasting a base stat total of 600. This guide will help *Pokémon Scarlet* players acquire Bagon and evolve it into the mighty Salamence, completing your Paldea Pokédex.
Updated on January 13, 2025 by Renri Seong: This guide has been updated to provide detailed information on Salamence's stats, type effectiveness, and recommended moves, ensuring you're well-equipped to utilize this powerful Pokémon to its full potential.
Where to Find Bagon Bagon Location in Pokemon Violet Several locations in *Pokémon Violet* offer a chance to encounter Bagon. Begin your search in the East Province (Area Three), known for its expansive caves teeming with Pokémon. Alternatively, a fixed spawn Bagon can be found on a mountain in South Province (Area Five), southwest of the bridge connecting the grassy and rocky regions. Dalizapa Passage, north of The Great Crater of Paldea, offers another opportunity, featuring a deep hole leading to a cavern with various rare Pokémon, including Bagon and Frigibax.
For a faster method, participate in 3-star Tera Raids (unlocked after obtaining three Gym Badges). These raids may yield Bagon with a different Tera Type and potentially its Hidden Ability.
How to Get Bagon in Pokemon Scarlet How to Trade and Transfer Pokemon
Since Bagon is exclusive to *Pokémon Violet*, trading or transferring is necessary for *Pokémon Scarlet* players. Utilize the Union Circle for trading with other players or transfer Bagon via Pokémon HOME from compatible games like *Pokémon Sword/Shield* (Expansion Pass), *Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl*, or directly from Pokémon HOME.
Open Pokémon HOME and select the source game. Move Bagon to your Basic Box and save. Open your *Pokémon Scarlet* file and transfer Bagon to a PC Box. Save and exit. How to Evolve Bagon into Shelgon and Salamence What Level Does Bagon Evolve
Bagon evolves into Shelgon at level 30, and Shelgon evolves into Salamence at level 50. Utilize auto-battling against appropriately leveled Pokémon, particularly Chansey (found in various locations throughout Paldea) for efficient leveling. Alternatively, Exp. Candy (L, XL, or M) can expedite the evolution process.
You can also obtain Shelgon and Salamence from Tera Raids (4-star and 5/6-star respectively).
Is Salamence Good? Salamence Strengths & Weaknesses
Salamence, a Gen 3 pseudo-legendary, possesses a base stat total of 600. Its high Attack stat (135) makes it an excellent physical attacker. An Adamant or Lonely nature is recommended. Its Dragon/Flying typing offers various type advantages but leaves it vulnerable to Ice (x4), Fairy, Dragon, and Rock-type moves.
HP: 95 Attack: 135 Special Attack: 110 Defense: 80 Special Defense: 80 Speed: 100 Total: 600
Recommended Moves Salamence's moveset leans towards physical attacks. Dragon Claw is a strong choice, while Iron Head (TM099) provides coverage against Fairy and Rock-type weaknesses. If opting for a special attacker, a Timid nature and moves like Draco Meteor and Flamethrower are recommended.
