Next Pokemon Presents Event May Be Disappointing for Switch 2

Pokemon Presents on February 27th: No Switch 2 Announcements Expected

Don't expect any reveals regarding Switch 2 Pokemon titles during the upcoming Pokemon Presents on February 27th. While leaks suggest an imminent Switch 2 unveiling, it appears the Pokemon franchise will remain on the original Switch for the foreseeable future. The focus of the next Pokemon Presents will likely be on Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

The Nintendo Switch 2's existence has been confirmed by Nintendo, though official details remain scarce. Leaks paint a picture of a more powerful, larger iteration of the original Switch, boasting backward compatibility. While future Pokemon games are undoubtedly destined for the Switch 2, insider reports indicate that the February 27th presentation will feature titles developed for the original Switch – all of which will, of course, be playable on the new console.

No Switch 2 Pokemon News Expected

The upcoming Pokemon Presents will almost certainly include updates on ongoing live-service titles like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Trading Card Game Live. Significant attention is also anticipated for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, slated for release on the original Switch this year. While a teaser showcased Lumiose City, returning Pokemon, and the return of Mega Evolutions, much remains undisclosed. Rumors, however, suggest another mainline Pokemon game is in the works for this year.

This rumored title, separate from Legends: Z-A and Generation 10, is speculated to be either Pokemon Black and White remakes or a new Let's Go installment. If the leaks prove accurate, these games will also launch on the original Switch, implying that Generation 10 titles will likely be the first major Pokemon releases exclusive to the Switch 2.

This strategy aligns with past Pokemon releases. Recall that Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 launched on the original DS, not the 3DS. History may well repeat itself. However, until official confirmation arrives during the February 27th Pokemon Presents, these remain speculations.
