From Select Button to Pokémon Works

Pokemon Sleep Starts Transition to Pokemon Works as Main DeveloperFollowing the March 2024 launch of Pokémon Works, a new subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, speculation arose regarding its future projects. Now, eight months later, it's been announced that Pokémon Works will assume responsibility for Pokémon Sleep's development and updates from Select Button, the original mobile game developer.

An in-app announcement (translated from Japanese) revealed that development and operation of Pokémon Sleep had previously been a joint effort between Select Button Co., Ltd. and The Pokémon Company, Ltd. This collaborative arrangement is now shifting, with Pokémon Works gradually taking the reins.

This announcement appeared in the Japanese version of the Pokémon Sleep app. The global app's news section hasn't yet reflected this change.

Pokemon Sleep Starts Transition to Pokemon Works as Main DeveloperPokémon Works' portfolio remains relatively unknown. However, according to a statement from Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki on their website, the company is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind the 2021 Pokémon remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Iwasaki also confirmed Pokémon Works' contributions to Pokémon HOME.

Despite their limited prior Pokémon involvement, Pokémon Works aims to create more immersive Pokémon experiences, enabling broader engagement and adventure with the Pokémon universe. Their specific plans for Pokémon Sleep remain to be unveiled.
