PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free

Sony has addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue." While the company offered no further explanation or preventative measures, PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a five-day service extension as compensation.

The outage caused widespread disruption, with over one-third of players unable to log in and others reporting server crashes. This incident highlights concerns among players who have criticized Sony's mandatory PSN account requirement, even for single-player PC games.

This isn't the first major PSN disruption; a significant data breach in April 2011 resulted in over 20 days of connectivity problems. Although less severe, the recent outage has left PS5 users frustrated by Sony's limited communication regarding the incident and its cause.
