Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11. It marks the third entry in the new DCU, which was launched with the Creature Commandos TV series towards the end of last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the previous DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, certain elements and characters will carry over into the new universe. Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, having started in the DCEU and now transitioning into the DCU with its second season.

Gunn has emphasized that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will transfer from the old universe to the new one remain uncertain. He has confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker will return with the same cast, including John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Furthermore, Gunn has stated that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline having a direct impact on Peacemaker's journey.
