Path of Exile 2: Ritual Guide – Passives, Tributes, And Favours

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 24,2025

Path of Exile 2's Atlas features four major endgame encounters: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, inspired by the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, are detailed here.

This guide covers initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

PoE 2 Rituals and Altars

Atlas map nodes with guaranteed endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram icon with a demonic face. Ritual encounters are guaranteed using a Ritual Precursor Tablet slotted into a completed Lost Tower.

Maps with Rituals spawn multiple Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies or mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms or pools of life-draining blood.

Locate an Altar, check its modifiers, and interact to initiate a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it prematurely ends the event with no rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

Ritual Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency item, unlocks access to The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair. Use it on your Atlas Realmgate.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessed via the Atlas map's skill tree, enhances Ritual events. It's located in the bottom right of the Atlas tree and offers nodes to reduce Tribute costs, improve rewards, and increase unique currency drop rates.

The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists defeat provides 2 skill points, mandating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for optimal rewards. 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' follow for increased high-value Omen and "King" encounter chances. The table below details Notable node effects and requirements:

Notable Delirium Passive Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute, 50% faster Favour appearance at Altars N/A

PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards

Completed Rituals yield Tribute, a temporary currency for purchasing randomized Favour items. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is a Favour item.

Favours may include powerful Omen items enhancing other currency effects. Omens are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy, modifying Orb effects. Omens are highly sought after for crafting. Ritual enemies also drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.).

The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Uniques.
