Patch Quest Blends Roguelite, Bullet Hell, Monster Taming

Crunchyroll has released Lychee Game's Patch Quest on Android. The game initially launched in early access on PC in May 2021, followed by its full release in March 2023. It masterfully blends several genres, such as roguelike, bullet hell, metroidvania, and monster-taming.

Explore a Shuffling Patchwork Maze Full of Monsters in Patch Quest

The adventure unfolds in Patchlantis, a unique island composed of various patches. Each run randomly rearranges the island's layout, ensuring that no two explorations are ever the same.

Your trusty lasso is your only permanent companion. It serves as your ultimate survival tool, allowing you to capture and tame more than 50 distinct monster species. This count increases significantly when you factor in the various subspecies, which offer even more strategic options for navigation and combat.

Every monster you encounter can be tamed and ridden, transforming them into vital partners for traversing the perilous landscape. Some creatures take to the skies, others navigate waterways, while some burrow underground or dash through narrow passages. For example, the Buzzerker acts as a living harpoon, the Sandamander digs to evade danger, the Torrentoise uses its shell to deflect incoming attacks, and the Combusdile can create a wall of fire.

How’s the Combat?

Prepare for intense bullet-hell combat where the screen fills with enemy projectiles as you utilize your mount's abilities. Even a failed run is a step forward, rewarding you with new shortcuts, a more powerful pet, or deeper knowledge of the island's mechanics.

Scattered throughout the island are over 200 types of plants and minerals. You can collect fruits and blend them into ammo-enhancing smoothies for temporary buffs. These resources are also used to unlock new equipment that expands your movement capabilities and tactical choices.

If you're a Crunchyroll subscriber, you can download Patch Quest from the Google Play Store.
