Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive China Events

Overwatch 2's triumphant return to China on February 19th brings a wealth of rewards and exciting events for players. This relaunch includes access to previously missed content, spanning Seasons 1 through 9, allowing players to catch up on Battle Pass rewards and participate in popular in-game events.

The highly anticipated Season 15 will feature a captivating theme: skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While specifics remain under wraps, this promises a unique and culturally rich addition to the game. The mystery surrounding whether these skins are new creations or existing ones, and their exclusivity to the Chinese market, adds to the anticipation. The possibility of a broader Chinese mythology theme permeating Season 15, mirroring the Norse mythology influence in Season 14, is particularly exciting.

A technical test, conducted from January 8th to 15th, provided a sneak peek at the returning content, including "Overwatch: Classic" and the six heroes released since the game's previous unavailability in China. This test paved the way for the full-scale relaunch.

Game director Aaron Keller's announcement on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) confirmed a multi-week celebratory event upon the game's return. This celebration will feature many beloved in-game events and rewards missed by the Chinese community. Players will earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the February 19th launch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards accessible through in-game events thereafter.

Further enriching the pre-Season 15 experience, players globally can participate in "Min 1, Max 3," a 6v6 test running from January 21st to February 4th, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and "Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic" events are also slated for this period. While Chinese players won't participate in these specific events, their own unique celebrations are imminent. The full reveal of Season 15 is expected in early February, leaving just over a month of exciting anticipation.
