Oscar Isaac Exits Star Wars Event, MCU Fans Speculate Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 09,2025

Rumors are swirling that Oscar Isaac might reprise his role as Moon Knight in the upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday. The speculation gained traction after Star Wars Celebration announced that Isaac would no longer be attending the event in Japan due to changes in his production schedule. Initially, fans were excited about the possibility of seeing Isaac return as Poe Dameron in a new Star Wars film, especially after Daisy Ridley's announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023. However, the shift in Isaac's schedule has led many to believe he might be gearing up to join the Avengers.

While the details of Isaac's new commitments remain under wraps, the fact that Avengers: Doomsday is currently filming in London has fueled the speculation. Social media has been abuzz with fans connecting the dots:

Despite the excitement, it's important to note that Isaac was not included in the initial cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige hinted at more surprises during a video call at CinemaCon, stating, "We revealed many, not all." This leaves room for hope that Isaac could indeed be part of the film.

Isaac previously starred in the six-episode series Moon Knight in 2022, but no follow-up has been announced yet. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, promising a grand ensemble of returning heroes and new faces as showcased in the epic livestream.

Meanwhile, MCU fans have also been intrigued by Robert Downey Jr.'s recent Doctor Doom-themed birthday invitation, adding another layer of mystery to the unfolding narrative.

Last month's cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday was dominated by veteran X-Men actors, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. This has led to speculation that the film might be setting up an Avengers vs. X-Men storyline. Grammer, who played Beast in the Fox X-Men franchise, made his MCU debut in The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart, known for his role as Charles Xavier/Professor X, appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of the Illuminati. McKellen, Cumming, Romijn, and Marsden, who played Magneto, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Cyclops respectively, have yet to make their MCU debuts, adding to the anticipation and speculation surrounding Avengers: Doomsday.
