Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is expanding its retail availability in March 2025, as announced via their official Twitter (X) account. This wider release will make Alarmo accessible at major retailers globally, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized retailers.

A Key Difference: No More Nintendo Online Requirement

Previously requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, Alarmo will be available to all consumers without this restriction starting in March. The device will retail for $99.99 USD. This announcement comes amidst much speculation about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though the company remains silent on that front.

High Demand and Initial Sell-Outs

Alarmo's popularity was immediately apparent. Following its October 9th, 2024 launch, it quickly sold out in various locations. In Japan, sales were temporarily suspended on the My Nintendo Store, shifting to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to manage demand. Similar sell-outs occurred in New York City, though without resorting to a lottery.

Engaging Features and Functionality

Alarmo boasts a unique blend of gaming charm and practical functionality. Featuring sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, it offers 42 selectable scenes with more promised via free updates.

The alarm experience is interactive; a character appears on the screen, and gentle sounds play. A "visitor" arrives if you linger in bed, escalating the sound until you get up. The motion sensor allows for silencing the alarm without touching the device.

Beyond the alarm, Alarmo provides hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking, recording time spent in bed and movement. A "Button Mode" is recommended for households with pets or multiple occupants.
