Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, an innovative digital game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This unique "virtual exhibition" isn't bundled with the console but will be available as a separate, paid download from the Nintendo eShop on the Switch 2's launch day.

Revealed during the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour offers players an immersive journey through the new hardware. Nintendo describes it as a way for users to "get to know the new system inside and out" through engaging tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements. The footage showcased a miniature player avatar navigating a gigantic representation of the Switch 2, exploring its features and learning about its capabilities in a museum-like setting. Among the attractions are minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo, providing both fun and education on the new console's features.

In their press release, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the launch day of the Switch 2. Despite its educational value and appeal, the decision to offer this as a paid digital game rather than a free pack-in has sparked discussions among fans, especially since no price has been announced yet.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a robust lineup including titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. With such a strong launch roster, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will need to stand out to justify its separate purchase, especially for consumers mindful of their budgets.
