Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Allegedly Leaked

Nintendo Switch 2: Official Reveal Expected This Thursday

A reliable leaker claims Nintendo will finally unveil the highly anticipated Switch 2 on Thursday, January 16th, 2025. This early reveal strongly suggests a first-half 2025 release.

The Switch 2's existence has been an open secret for some time. Reports indicate mass production began in late September or early October 2024, corroborated by numerous hardware leaks. Nintendo itself previously committed to an announcement before March 31st, 2025.

NateTheHate, a well-known and reputable leaker, broke the January 16th reveal date on his podcast, citing undisclosed sources. This aligns with Nintendo's history of making major announcements on Thursdays – mirroring the original Switch reveal in 2016. The Verge's Tom Warren independently corroborated this information.

Extensive Leaks Precede Official Announcement

While the exact format remains uncertain (a brief teaser preceding a full reveal is possible), the Switch 2's extensive leaks make a surprise announcement unlikely. The sheer volume of leaked information, including a replica console that Nintendo even addressed, has already painted a detailed picture.

Rumors suggest a slightly larger console than the Switch OLED (270 x 116 x 14mm) with an 8-inch LCD screen and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. The right Joy-Con may feature an extra "C" button, possibly related to a rumored mouse-like pointer function.

Launch Title Lineup Remains Unclear

Unlike the hardware details, the Switch 2's launch game lineup remains largely unknown. While titles like My Time at Evershine and Bestiario are confirmed, neither is expected to be a day-one release if the console launches in the first half of 2025. Nintendo will likely include at least one or two major first-party titles to drive initial sales.
