Nintendo Switch 2: Leaked Images Hint at Joy-Con Changes

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons Leaked: A Closer Look

Recent online leaks appear to reveal the design of the Joy-Con controllers for Nintendo's upcoming Switch successor. While the Switch continues to see new releases into 2025, speculation about its replacement is intensifying, especially given Nintendo's confirmation of an announcement before the end of their 2024 fiscal year. With a rumored March 2025 launch, leaks regarding the Switch 2's specifications and features are becoming increasingly common.

New images, originating from a Chinese social media platform and shared on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit by user SwordfishAgile3472, provide the clearest look yet at the Switch 2's Joy-Cons. These images showcase the back and side of a left Joy-Con, confirming previous rumors of a magnetic connection system. Unlike the original Switch's rail-based design, these controllers appear to utilize magnets for attachment, eliminating physical contact.

The leaked photos highlight a primarily black Joy-Con with blue accents, reminiscent of the original Switch's blue Joy-Con. However, the blue element seems confined to the magnetic connection area. The images also offer a glimpse at the button layout, revealing larger "SL" and "SR" buttons, and a notable third button on the back. This additional button is believed to be a release mechanism for the magnetic connection.

These leaked Joy-Con images align with other circulating leaks and mockups of the Switch 2 console. While these details remain unconfirmed until Nintendo's official reveal, the images provide compelling visual evidence supporting existing rumors. The magnetic Joy-Cons, along with the additional button and color scheme, paint a more complete picture of what the Switch 2 might offer.
