Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launching Soon

Netflix is venturing into the MMO genre with the announcement of Spirit Crossing at GDC 2025. Developed by Spry Fox, known for their cozy life-sims like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, Spirit Crossing promises a serene experience filled with warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and a strong focus on building connections rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In Spirit Crossing, players will embark on a journey through a vast world, where they can build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside other players. Activities include gathering resources, riding fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying time with friends.

The visual style of Spirit Crossing draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even incorporates elements of modern art like Corporate Memphis. The aim is to create a timeless and welcoming environment where players feel at home for years to come.

A unique feature of the game is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees planted by players will take three to six real-world months to grow into a full orchard ready for harvest. This slow-paced design echoes Spry Fox's approach seen in Cozy Grove.

Spirit Crossing emphasizes forming meaningful connections, aligning with Spry Fox's design philosophy. Co-founder David Edery has expressed the desire for the game to transform strangers into friends.
