Netflix Developing Live-Action Dungeons & Dragons Series

Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based in the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project is spearheaded by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and Wolverine), with Drew Crevello ( WeCrashed) serving as writer and showrunner. This marks a significant investment by Netflix in the fantasy genre. The series, still in early development, has the potential to launch a larger D&D universe on the platform. While Netflix and Hasbro have declined comment, Deadline reports that the pilot script is complete following extensive negotiations.

While this live-action series is in development, there's currently no news regarding a sequel to the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Despite Chris Pine's expressed interest in a return and his confidence in a sequel, Paramount Pictures' CEO, Brian Robbins, has indicated that a sequel would only proceed with a reduced budget. In the meantime, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
