Author:Kristen Update:May 25,2025

As we approach the eagerly awaited August release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the stealth game's opening movie, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse into what's to come.

For those familiar with the original, the opening should feel instantly recognizable, despite some subtle changes. From the iconic newspapers that grace the screen to the James Bond-esque title song, reprised by the original performer Cynthia Harrell, the nostalgia is palpable.

The video teases several in-game moments — albeit without context — such as Snake performing an Olympic-style backward leap off a waterfall, and the aptly named Snake the Snake Eater consuming a snake. These snippets are sure to excite long-time fans.

PlayMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of Konami's 2004 action espionage classic, sans the "Delta" moniker. Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will launch on August 28, and fans will be thrilled to learn that the beloved Snake vs. Monkey minigame is making a comeback. The game will also retain the suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the notorious Peep Demo Theatre, as indicated by an age rating.

In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, IGN remarked that the game "seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been." While it introduces a new first-person perspective for Snake, the game remains "an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater earned a stellar 9.6 from us, setting a high bar for this remake.
