Mortal Kombat 1 added a secret fighter with a reference to a legendary rock band

This week, *Mortal Kombat 1* rolled out a significant update, introducing the iconic Conan the Barbarian to its roster of fighters. However, alongside this anticipated addition, the game surprised players with an unannounced character: a ninja clad in pink, named Floyd. While it might seem like a playful addition, Floyd is indeed a legitimate secret fighter.

Floyd is a nod to the legendary rock band Pink Floyd, cleverly referencing the cover of their iconic album, *The Dark Side of the Moon*, which depicts the dispersion of light into multiple colors. This secret fighter draws heavily on moves from other ninjas within the game. For instance, he can freeze opponents in a manner reminiscent of Sub-Zero, or deploy spears akin to Scorpion's signature move. An amusing detail is that Floyd boasts 1337 health points, a playful reference to the internet slang "leet" or "elite."

For long-time fans of the series, Floyd's inclusion might evoke a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of Reptile's introduction in the original *Mortal Kombat*. Reptile, too, was a secret fighter whose moveset was a compilation of other ninjas' abilities, and he was notoriously challenging to defeat.

Currently, the *Mortal Kombat 1* community is actively trying to decipher the method to trigger an encounter with the elusive pink ninja, Floyd. The appearance seems somewhat random at present, although Floyd himself provides subtle hints about the challenges players need to complete to face him. Despite these clues, a definitive method to unlock him has yet to be confirmed.
