If you prefer to quickly browse through all the available options, you can do so right here. However, for a detailed understanding of what each box contains, continue reading.

Core Boxes

Each core box of Monster Hunter World: The Board Game is a standalone experience, featuring four hunters and four monsters. These boxes can be combined to mix and match characters and monsters from different sets, enhancing the gameplay variety. While the majority of components are unique to each set, there is some overlap, and additional cards are included for use when combining sets.

Starting with one core box is advisable. If you find yourself hooked, consider adding smaller expansions before investing in a second core set. The quality across core sets is consistent, with high production standards and the same engaging gameplay loop. The choice between sets often comes down to aesthetic preference or a connection to specific video game memories.

Retail Expansions

Expansions available from the game's Kickstarter campaign are largely available at retail, though some are harder to find. Nergigante is particularly scarce, and Teostra is exclusive to Steamforged Games.

Nergigante, Kushala Daora, and Teostra are Elder Dragons, introducing new challenges with additional quest content and a higher difficulty level. These expansions also feature larger miniatures, enhancing the epic feel of the game.

While these expansions can significantly extend your gameplay, they are pricey and some features are specific to one core box or the other. For example, Kushala Daora's crafting options are tailored for hunters from both core sets.
