In honor of Metro's 15th anniversary, 4A Games is offering Metro 2033 Redux for free until April 16. This limited-time offer, announced on Metro’s official Twitter (X) account on April 14, allows players to download the game on Steam and Xbox until 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT. This move aims to introduce new players to the iconic franchise that began with the gripping post-apocalyptic world of Metro 2033.

As part of the 15th anniversary celebrations, 4A Games is not only giving away Metro 2033 Redux but also shared plans for a year filled with events, deals, and celebratory content across Metro's social media channels. This gesture is a thank you to the fans who have been part of the journey so far. The announcement came in a blog post on 4A Games’ official website on March 16, outlining their plans to engage with the community throughout the year.

4A Games, founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanded to Malta, draws inspiration from Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels. Despite the challenges faced due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to its craft. In their recent update, they stated, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro

4A Games is currently working on two ambitious projects: the next Metro game and a brand new IP. While details on the new IP remain under wraps, the studio provided some insights into the development of the next Metro title. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has significantly influenced the narrative direction of the game. The developers shared, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."

Despite the challenges, 4A Games remains dedicated to crafting hard-hitting, reality-inspired stories. They assured fans that they will overcome these obstacles and deliver a quality game that continues Metro's legacy with a chapter that is more relevant than ever.
