A recently uploaded Donald Trump mod for the popular game Marvel Rivals has been removed from Nexus Mods, reportedly due to its sociopolitical nature, violating the platform's established guidelines. Marvel Rivals, developed by NetEase Games, has gained millions of players since its release, with many utilizing mods to customize character models. These mods have ranged from alternate skins based on Marvel comics and films to even crossovers featuring characters from other franchises like Fortnite.

The Donald Trump mod, which replaced the model of Captain America with that of the former president, quickly gained attention on social media. Some players even sought out a purported Joe Biden mod for a potentially humorous matchup. However, both mods are now inaccessible on Nexus Mods, resulting in error messages indicating they cannot be found.

This action by Nexus Mods aligns with a 2020 blog post outlining their policy against mods involving US sociopolitical issues. This policy, implemented around the time of the 2020 presidential election, aims to maintain a neutral platform and avoid potentially contentious content.

The ban has generated mixed reactions online. While many Marvel Rivals players found the mod unsurprising or even inappropriate given Captain America's established image, others expressed dissatisfaction with Nexus Mods' political content restrictions. It's worth noting that despite this ban, Trump-themed mods for other games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, and XCOM 2 remain available on the platform.
